Ministry trip to the Philippines

March 29, 2017

Kent and I only had one week to get ready for our next trip. We were very excited to be able to go to see the Philippines as our daughter Kara had been there for her student teaching at the missionary kid school in Manila in 2003. It is hard to believe it is that long ago.

Our purpose to go was to find out the kinds of workers our missionary team needs there. So the friend director had an agenda and pretty well planned our time for us. We got to three different and distinct parts of the country and we were so grateful for our missionary hosts in all the locations. It was anything but a vacation as we were going early each day and all day long. We were so grateful for all the pastors we met and all the missionaries and to see most of the ministries they are involved in as well. We prayed with the people we met and tried to be encouraging in any way we could.

Because I took so many pictures it will be better to show you our trip better in video. It is in three parts so please enjoy them all. I did not add music as I am not that good at that yet. But video two has several videos imbedded with music or noise. I hope you enjoy them.

Ministry trip to NW and Denver

March 27, 2017

In January we flew to the Northwest for a ministry trip. Since we were so close we took the time to visit Kent’s parents and another dear friend, Ed! We also got to see Kent’s sister and his first cousins. It was a very quick trip as we only had two days with mom and dad but it was so good to see them again and doing so well in their nineties.

We then drove to a friend’s house that are starting a guesthouse ministry. They had taken a smaller house that they hoped for another use and turned it into a beautiful and gracious house to refresh the souls and bodies of Christian workers. They held a dedication and asked Kent to officiate! Afterwards they held a delicious luncheon to commemorate this event. What a special time it was to be with them! Kent gave them a globe to represent the workers that they will touch and encourage around the world.

Then we drove to Portland for Mission Connexion. It was a great conference! We had lots of perspective missionaries stop by the booth and attend Kent’s seminar. I also was thrilled to hear Joni Erickson Tada.

If you don’t know about Joni, check out her website: Joniandfriends.org. She has been a paraplegic for over 50 years and does a lot of speaking. She not only shared her testimony but encouraged all of us to¬†” Get up! Get a shower! And do something! ” in other words, there is no excuse to not do something for God! wow! I thought what a great testimony! I was thrilled to hear her as she has been someone I’ve admired for many years! We also reconnected with some other missionaries that graduated from Bible College with us! What fun!

Next we flew to Denver for our missions annual Renewal conference. This is where our missionaries on home assignment have a time of refreshment and renewal first in prayer, in God’s Word and in seminars to help them! It is a highlight of the year for us!

Also since we get to stay with Kara, Nick and Ivan…it is extra special! We even got to keep Ivan so they could have a date day/night together.we so enjoy being able to see Ivan as often as possible as he is growing up so fast. At two years old he is such a cutie too!

Then we flew home!! But only for one week so we could get ready for our next trip!!!

Love,
