Great Summer in central northwest

September 12, 2016

Kent and I had a great summer in central Washington.we were so excited to be here. We both love farmland and the people that love these areas. We loved where we were able to park on Bill and Lynn’s little farm. We loved all the animals they had and often enjoyed the eggs from Ruth, Esther and Naomi. They were delicious!

We enjoyed the Apple industry that was all around us. We saw how the apple trees are being trimmed now to do a better job for harvesting and more fruitful as well.

We saw the area’s other industries. We were amazed at how the city had a host of different small businesses as well that not only supported the farming/orchard industry. We got to know lots of people in the church that we were helping and also in the community.

It was also interesting that Kent had three cousins in the area which we also got to visit. We certainly were not bored and with Kent’s fall and the ribs broken it slowed us down a bit, but not too much.

Here are some of the pictures of the apple processing plant we went too and some of the orchards in the area. Also a great picture of Mt Adams.

If you look carefully on the top picture, you can see Mt Adams peeking over the top. We could also see Mt Rainier at times too!

This picture of a truck is where the apples are washed in getting ready for cold storage. It was amazing watching them get washed right on the truck. The containers have slates to allow the water to pass through.  Fun times!

This area also grow lots of other fruit, such as peaches and pears, and lots of garden vegetables. We were grateful that Bill and Lynn share their garden produce with us too!

It was a very profitable and fun summer. It went by so fast that before we knew it, it was time to move on.

Watch for where we went next!

Love,
