A Very Special Family Event

June 17, 2016

A few weeks ago Kent and I accompanied his parents to a wedding of one of their granddaughters. We had planned to go and encouraged them to go with us. We drove a day before to  a cousins house in Seattle and had a nice evening and time to catch up before the trip. This was so we didn’t have to fight traffic in the morning. So our time to get to the airport was much easier. Our flights went well and we arrived at our destination without any problems. Our daughter and her 18 month old son had traveled ahead of us and already had the rented van and picked us up and we were on to our way to our rented house.

We had a couple of days to rest and enjoy our grandson before the rest of the family gathered. Ivan entertained us often!

My other sister-in-law, Jamie and Glen held a brunch for all the family to gather and visit at their rented house. It was fun seeing everyone and just hanging out some. Then we all had to get ready for the wedding and go to it.

Our niece’s wedding was a beautiful event and we so enjoyed being able to be there for it. It was very special to have Kent’s parents there. They were the only living grandparents. So it was a special time.

The family that was there. All but one of us.

On Sunday morning some of us went to see the racetrack where Kent’s brother works part time selling programs during the racing season. It is a beautiful venue and we got to see the horses run that morning. Ivan our 18 month old grandson enjoyed that and the jockeys enjoyed seeing him too!

Then the entire family had a nice brunch at a lovely restaurant and afterwards we all went to Kent’s brothers house for a celebration of Kent’s parents early 70th wedding anniversary. Since all but one member of the family was there it seemed appropriate to commemorate this event together. Of course we had cake and took pictures!

Monday everyone starting to leave and gradually it was just Kent and I and his folks. We had decided to stay a few days after the wedding to visit with the brides parents a little more. That was nice and then it was our time to return home too. Our flights were pretty good although we had some turbulence on our last leg. But after our drive back to mom and dads house. they were glad to get home again.

Kent and I stayed overnight with a friend and then weeded dads garden in the morning before we left to drive back to where our RV is parked. We are so grateful for this trip!

Thanks Ron and Jan for all of your help and the hosting!

This  video link shows lots more pictures and some of the fun we had! These pictures were taken by our daughter and son-in-law as he is a better photographer than me. So follow this link to see more pictures:https://vimeo.com/171137891

A major change in plans

June 14, 2016

My husband Kent and I were busy doing things around our RV house on Saturday evening. I told Kent that I would go inside and start getting dinner. He was washing windows on our RV, on a 8 ft ladder . Well, I decided to clean up first and then I hear a loud “Thump” and Kent groaning. When I looked out I saw Kent flat on his back on the ground. Yikes!!  I ran out to him, asking him to remain where he was as I could see his head was bleeding and I was concerned about broken bones, head injuries etc! He was writhing in pain and didn’t really hear me. I ran and got my phone and dialed 911, and as I was telling them where we were,  Kent started to get up from the ground. So I told the operator I had to go and help Kent.

So Kent decided he was well enough for me to take him to the Emergency Room. So that is what I did! They got him a wheel chair immediately and triaged him pretty quickly, got him back to a room. He was talking and answering all of their questions so they thought he was fine. After about 3 hours and X-rays, then a CAT scan, because his side seemed to hurt more than they thought it should. They were checking organs too. So the doctors decided he only had 4 broken ribs and bruised and battered body. They decided to keep him in the hospital overnight as he was in a lot of pain and for observation.

We were praising God and the good medical team that checked Kent out! There could have been a lot worse things had happened because of this fall. Anyway, the fall and resultant broken ribs changed our plans for the next couple of weeks. We were going to move to Boise, Idaho area tomorrow. Now we aren’t moving and we are still praising God for his protection.

Here is a picture that I took a few months ago when Kent was working  on our solar panels on the roof of our RV. He walked so confidently on this roof! We will be extremely careful in doing this again.

Kent is slowly improving and we are also glad for some strong medicines to help his pain right now.

Grateful to God for His protection and good doctors! And this nice view from his hospital room of Mount Adams.

Our son’s birthday

June 7, 2016

Our son Josh was born over thirty years ago, today. He was two months early and it caused my husband and I quite shock. Josh spent the first month of life in a NICU, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. He grew and was able to get off the machines fairly quickly. We were thrilled for the July 4 th that we were finally able to bring him home from the hospital! A few months later we moved to Southeast Alaska the first of many other places in his life.

For 4 years we had been wanting to have a child so when Josh came early and with health challenges, it was just another obstacle to overcome. When God gave us Josh we were absolutely thrilled. When he could finally come home for the hospital we fought over who could change  his diapers! Hah most couples don’t say that, do they?

Josh has grown into a wonderful adult son, he is married to a great woman,  Teresa and they have the most special ten year old around. Of course I am a little prejudice! Josh recently graduated with his Masters degree. He has a great job that he is really good at, and he is a good father and husband.

Josh, did you know that they day you were born, your dad ran 9 miles! He was so excited! Me too! But my work was in the labor room!

We are so proud of you, Josh and so very glad that you made us a family! We love you and wish you a very special birthday
