Once in a Lifetime Experience

Saturday Kent had one of those kinds of experiences. He got a ride in a real Nascar race car.

A little background…when Kent he was 15-18 was a race car driver. Yes, he was racing before he legally could drive on the road. He was about to make some decisions about which way to go with it when God got a hold of his life. That changed everything for him and eventually he sold his car. And never looked back.

A few years ago I realized that he would enjoy riding in a race car, when we went to Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee. It was at that time almost 3 years ago and that is when I saw this desire. So when looking for a present for Christmas and his birthday which is coming up Jan 31…I found this ride along opportunity and for half price!!

So I bought one for him and yesterday he had that experience. We went to the Phoenix International Speedway and had some friends meet up with us too.

We actually took our RV house as we were going to the desert to meet some other friends for a couple of days. Here we are parked on the infield.

There was a lot of waiting for the ride.

Afterwards with our friends Peter and Marlene checking out the car that Rusty Wallace races with.

Kent thought it might be fun to try it out.

Cars seat, it looked to me like a adult sized car seat.

Then just when Kent and some others were about to get their rides next…someone had an accident. No, the person wasn’t hurt at all BUT it took time to clean up the spill off the track. But that gave all the people time to go and see the cars up close and check out the engine. Here Kent and our friend Peter are looking at the engine.

Finally it was Kent’s turn to go.

He was getting all hooked up here.

Then off you go and Kent got the ride of his life and loved it! I think it was his best Christmas/birthday present ever! I did get a video of it and will try to find a place to put it online and will let you know if you’d like to see it.
